Its “Game On” Starting Saturday

If you’ve read any of my stuff the past few days, you know what the CSU Men’s Basketball team is up against in their quest for a regular season MWC Championship, a conference tournament championship, and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

I haven’t even talked about the league-leading CSU Women’s Basketball team’s similar quest and the even greater challenges they face.

They have regularly scheduled road games at Air Force on Saturday and Monday.  The MWC added a pair of games with New Mexico on Wednesday and Friday. Originally road games, these two games were to be played at Fort Collins last week before a COVID pause at New Mexico. Since New Mexico is still not allowed to play their home games in Albuquerque, these two newly scheduled games will be played in Las Vegas.

So the CSU Women are scheduled to play 4 games in 6 days, all on the road.

Then comes the MWC Tournament which begins on the following Monday and runs through Wednesday of next week. The MWC is a one-bid league when it comes to the women so only one team will advance to the NCAA’s.

CSU will be forced to play 7 games in 11 days, all away from home, if they want to meet their goal. It should be said that New Mexico faces the same challenge as CSU with the same number of games in such a compressed amount of time on the road.

So there you have it.

Two teams trying to win conference championships and trying to move on to post-season play.

Up against the wall for sure.

But knowing the coaching staffs and players have stared down adversity all season long to get to the point where they are is something for all of us who follow and cheer for them to embrace.

Which means its time to move on.

The climb begins tomorrow, Saturday February 27th. The men host Air Force and the women travel to Air Force.

With a mindset that views what’s in front of them not as obstacles but stepping stones to greater heights.

Let’s get behind them. Send them positive vibes on social media. Turn on the TV’s and computer streams. Scream like me at the TV. Take the name of an official in vain for a bad call if you feel like it.

Its Game On!
