Ram Zone, powered by CSU BookstoreWelcome to the 2023 RamNation BOWL Pick’em Contest, presented by Ram Zone!

RamU23 holds on for Bowl Pick’em championship! txRam and Danny Ladish finish second- and third-place, respectively following the national championship total score tiebreaker

1/9/24–Five games were all that remained heading into New Years Day between RamU23 and a RamNation Bowl Pick’em title. He carried a two-game lead over the next closest challengers, and despite going just 2-3 on the final day, benefitted from a subpar performance from those who entered the day tied for second place.

RamU23 whiffed on the LSU (-10) vs. Wisconsin in the ReliaQuest Bowl, Iowa (+8) vs. Tennessee in the Citrus Bowl and Liberty (+14.5) vs. Oregon in the Fiesta Bowl before nailing both winners — Michigan -1.5 vs. Alabama and Washington (+4.5) vs. Texas in the two playoff games. That left him with a final record of 26-14-1 (64.6% winning percentage) and a one-game cushion over second place. He earns the $300 gift card to Ram Zone, powered by the CSU Bookstore. Congratulations!

The battle for second place came down to the total score tiebreaker in the national championship game a week later, as txRam, Danny Ladish, and EMJ were all tied for second place at 25-15-1. Their tiebreaker guesses were as follows:

  • txRam: 52
  • Danny Ladish: 55
  • EMJ: 67

Michigan and Washington combined for 47 points in the Wolverines’ three-touchdown win, which means txRam’s guess was closest — good for a second-place finish ($150 gift card to Ram Zone, powered by the CSU Bookstore), while Danny Ladish took third ($75). Unfortunately for EMJ, despite a fantastic run, she is the hard-luck fourth-place finisher and concludes the contest out of the prizes.

So, congrats to our champion, RamU23,  as well as txRam and Danny Ladish on their great seasons. Please contact us at [email protected] so we can arrange getting you your gift cards.

For the record, 21 favorites covered this bowl season, while 19 underdogs covered (and amazingly all but one won outright — Wisconsin broke that streak Monday when they covered, but still lost the game to LSU), and one game pushed.

Thank you all for partcipating and we ask that you support our great sponsor of our contests — Ram Zone, powered by the CSU Bookstore. They’ll also be sponsoring our Bracket Contest coming this March!

Contest details/rules

  • Contestants will pick a point-spread winner in every bowl game.
  • Contestant’s should make their picks “against the spread”. For instance, if UCLA is favored by -2.5 vs. Boise State, and UCLA wins by more than 2.5 points, they win “against the spread.” If UCLA does not win by more than 2.5 points, then Boise State wins “against the spread,” even though they might lose the game.
  • 1st tiebreaker: In case of a tie at end of bowl season, the difference in tiebreaker game will be used as first tiebreaker (you will be able to pick the any game during bowl season and make a tiebreaker guess for that game)
2nd tiebreaker: Total Strength of Victory (SoV) points at end of bowl season. Office Pool Stop calls “Strength of Victory”, or SoV. It simply takes the margin of victory/loss in every game, so if you picked the winning team, and they covered by 10, you would earn +10 SoV points. If they lost by 10 (under the point spread), you’d be -10 SoV points for that game.
  • Entries are due prior to the first kickoff of bowl season!
  • Please submit only one entry form per contestant.
  • You may edit your entries via the pool dashboard as long as it’s before the start of the first game of the contest that week. Your final entry is the one submitted last prior to the first kickoff.
  • If a game is canceled/postponed, it will merely be omitted from the standings.

Thanks and best of luck to everyone (except Buffaloes, Cowboys, and Falcons, of course!).
