Meh, things back then were about perception more than computers. There

also wasn't the perception of CSU as a second class citizen due to a lack of P5 membership. Nowadays perception is really only a factor in the real metrics used like SOS. We're all too close to the situation and too disappointed in the results to be honest judges of the situation.

I think we're getting these opportunities not because we're easy prey (and right now we are), but because our investment in athletics promises a G5 week on the schedule without the major SOS hit. P5 folks think we're on track just based on investment, they don't watch our games or read our board. I realize we're not there and their is no guarantee we will be, but the view of CSU is a little different outside of CO. I know that for a fact. We carry a lot more respect (earned or not) among fans of "non-elite" P5 schools that I talk to than many of our own fans on this board. The stadium, the coaching hires, even the dumb uniforms are pushing a view of a team on the rise. Hell, even the schedule has us at 7-6 for three straight years before a hiccup. Nobody's researching who those 7 came against.

The biggest message going forward? What a freaking opportunity!! Time to grow up and act like the program we're pretending to be. There's a ton of upside just waiting for us.
