Aloha Stadium was in terrible shape in the early 1990's. However,

Given the cost of building materials on the island, a $330M stadium on Oahu is equivalent to about a $190M stadium in Colorado.
Plus, this price will have to include the disposal (i.e., the shipment of material back to the mainland) of the steel/iron that the old stadium will yield. So the $330M starts shrinking stadium functionality even more.
Last, will the new stadium be built from plastics cuz iron/steel will rust quickly (just as Aloha did)?
Truth is, UH should probably drop football due to its costs, but Hawaiians love their football!
