It’s Terry Bradshaw Day for the Rocky Mountain Showdown

#50 multi-sport athlete.

Four trips to the Super Bowl, four rings. That's Terry Bradshaw's lasting legacy as an athlete.

Apparently Bradshaw had a thing for major accomplishments in fours. Back when he was a high school senior at Woodlawn High School in Shreveport, La., football might have been his second-best sport. He certainly was a good football player, leading Woodlawn to Louisiana's 1965 state championship game.

But what he did the following spring was something else.

Bradshaw broke the national high school record in the javelin. And then he did it again ... and again ... and again. By the time Bradshaw got done resetting the national record, he had thrown the spear 243 feet, 7 inches. Before Bradshaw began breaking the record, it was sitting at 232-11.

The impressive record lasted five years. Russ Francis of Pleasant Hill (Ore.) High School knocked it out of the park in 1971 with a throw of 259-9, a mark that stood for 17 years. Francis checked in at #57 on this year's Countdown.

On deck: Of the 100 athletes in the Countdown, he was born first.
