It’s Harvey Pulford Day for the Rocky Mountain Showdown
#49 multi-sport athlete.
Pulford, born in 1875, excelled in pretty much every sport he tried: hockey, boxing, football, lacrosse, rowing, even squash.
-- Hockey: Played on four Stanley Cup champions with the Ottawa Hockey Club.
-- Boxing: Both the lightweight and heavyweight champion of Eastern Canada.
-- Football: Played for the Ottawa Rough Riders, winning the Canadian title four times.
-- Lacrosse: Played for the top-rated Canadian team.
Best known for hockey, when the Hall of Fame opened in 1945, he was one of the nine original inductees.
On deck: Unfortunately for him, the Broncos were almost always really good when he played -- and he had to face them twice a year.
