Bumping up the racism vs. "socialism" discussion and TDE's take.....

Correct me if I'm misinterpreting you, TD, but you seem to be suggesting that Americans will elect an openly racist Prez over a "socialist" Prez. I put the word socialist in quotes, as it's current usage is a far cry from the definition I learned in PO101 at CSU (government ownership of the means of production). Only one Dem candidate is an avowed Socialist, and aside from his Medicare For All plan, none of his policy proposals involve the government taking ownership of private business. Several other Dems also favor Medicare For All or a Medicare public option. But let's be clear - we already have Medicare in place for seniors (govt ownership of the means of production for most, but not all, seniors' health insurance). So we're talking about an expansion of one socialist policy that's already in place, and pretty popular among it's participants. No Dem candidates are proposing that the government take ownership of our financial system, our technology industry, our manufacturing industries, or any other industries. So we're talking about the expansion of one socialist policy in one area (health insurance), and nowhere else. You've fallen for the GOP's 2020 messaging campaign if you believe that's socialism writ large. But any way, back to the original question. Is having a Prez who'll expand one existing socialist policy in one industry worse for America than having a Prez who regularly uses his platform to engage in bigoted and racist statements? If so, why?
