It was the first outing of the league and there were some fumbles by the admin. I think that they may have gotten past some of those hurdles. They are going to give it a go again this year. My 9 year old played last year and will play again this year.
I know it has been really good in Texas and a lot of HS coaches are pushing it for off season rec sports for their players. As you said, it helps with blocking as kids have to use hands instead of body. Plus it allows offensive weapons to work on their skills. But I was talking to the league rep to see if he had a team my 14 year old could play on and he says that he has met resistance from HS coaches here in this area. Seems that flag has taken root and more parents are not letting kids play tackle... which is why I think FLEX would be a better alternative. These parents keep hearing this spill that there is no reason for a kid to play tackle until HS... then when they do get to HS they get their lunch handed to them on the first day of hitting because they are so behind.
