Kirk was a high minutes, go to guy with poor efficiency at Ohio University

Some observations:

He was 2nd in minutes (almost first) for each of his first two seasons at Ohio Univ. so obviously his coach valued him.

Ohio was a middling MAC team (ranked #184, 193# similar to Air Force).

His style of play was more like a point guard/small forward type - He shot a lot but not many 3's and he got to the free throw line a lot. He had a decent amount of assists. Because he was a low percentage shooter and had a lot of turnovers he had very poor offensive efficiency ratings. He shot more than any player on the team. It appears he was criticized by Ohio faithful for being a bit of a ball hog.

Ohio had top 100 ranked defense so I am assuming Kirk is a pretty good defender.

He is also a very good rebounder for a 6-3 guy.

I think the key to his success at CSU will be adapting to becoming a share the ball role player on offense who will not be the go-to guy. In that scenario he might become better at shot selection and turnovers, but is that in his DNA?

In CSU's guard heavy offense I see him playing the 3 and occasionally the 4.
