Being extra cautious now might be the strategy.

LoFasZz, do you have a link to Polis's comments? Curious on the full context of what he said.

It sure seems that being conservative now and then loosening the restrictions as things evolve is better than promising a lot now and than having to backtrack.

The Athletic had an interview with Polis yesterday and he was somewhat cagey about fans in stands, in that regular testing is viewed as extremely important. Regular testing being twice a week. My reading of The Athletic Q & A with Polis is that some fans in stands are a possibility for some venues at some point in time with the proper safeguards in place.

This will evolve and we will see what happens. My guess is cagey too, as I am not anticipating being able to attend any CSU football games (if they are played) even though I am a season ticket holder. Then if I can attend I will be happy. Here is one Q & A:

Q: Could the start of the season for MLB and later the NFL provide a blueprint of sorts for colleges and even high schools?

A: You know, the main thing about high schools, and maybe colleges can, but high schools can’t really afford that level of testing. I don’t think it’s realistic for them to say my high school is doing two tests a week for every player and the staff. Some of the college teams — I think certainly the college teams might be able to live with the small premium relative to the economics they drive from football. They might be able to do a test or two a week just to keep infections out.

I think with high school being back, which we hope it’s in person in the fall and we hope kids are playing football, it’ll likely also be without fans, without large groups, and we’ll just have to make that extra effort to make sure that it doesn’t lead to community outbreaks in the rare instance where there’s players that come down with it.
