If the boosters can now pay a player through endorsements, it might cut into what they are willing to give directly to the athletic department. If they pay the players enough, who's gonna' be able to still pay the coach? A bit of a reach I know, especially for Tennessee or Alabama. Not as much as a reach for K-State or Iowa State (not to mention G5's). I think the schools want the NCAA to set limits on player cash, because some of the states won't.
