It’s Michael Christian Day for the Rocky Mountain Showdown
#74 Colorado Classic
Colorado connection: Raised in Denver and graduated from Mullen High School.
Accomplishments: A few years before Chauncey Billups, there was Michael Christian. The Mullen guard could seemingly do anything on a basketball court and was a three-time all-state player and a national recruit who headed for the ACC and Georgia Tech before transferring to Tulane. As a sophomore, Christian came into his own, averaging 19.3 points per game and looking like a surefire future NBA player. But the first of several injuries knocked him off his game, and he played just one more season, still averaging 12.5 ppg. What could have been? Michael's talent was undisputed. Older brother Dean Christian would be the first to tell you that. Big brother was a three-year star at Air Force, who averaged just under 10 points per game for his career. But Michael was a lot better -- perhaps the best that never was from this state.
On deck: Two-time national champion ... before college.
