Kind of agree

I really like all the focus on bringing in local kids and returning us to the recruiting locations where we were so successful in the past. I also think holding Spring practices as early as we did got us 7 important practices that many schools did not get, especially for a school with a new coaching staff.

That being said, we are still in a huge wait and see mode. The transfers that have been brought in are all guys who didn't have much playing time at their last stop. Sure we have a top 50 recruiting class for 2021, but it is top 50 only because other schools don't have as many commits as we do. From an average per recruit rating standpoint, it really isn't better than we are used to, in fact 2019 and 2017 were quite a bit higher in that regard, and that didn't include some awesome transfers. The HS football season still has to happen yet (which could benefit or hurt some young guys depending on how conditioned they are and if they even get to play), those guys still have to sign, and other schools will get commits so it will likely be in the 70s or 80s once it is all said and done, unless the recruiting services increase the rankings of our guys (which is unlikely due to a lack of summer showcase camps). What matters is how you develop them anyway.

I do think CSU is positioned a lot better than a lot of schools, especially in our conference, with regards to getting guys in shape and conditioned for football. We have the advantage of the university doing so much nationally for COVID that we have a lot of in-house expertise and resources that many schools don't have. That can only help us. Additionally what will be important is our players being smart enough to keep themselves fairly isolated so as not to catch COVID while other schools are doing so and having to shutdown for days and weeks at a time. If we can keep guys healthy and able to stay working out and getting in game shape, that will payoff in huge ways. A 2 week shutdown can be a momentum killer that causes a lot of injuries.

Addazio is saying and doing all the right things out of game day that has me excited. I love the coaching staff and am excited to be able to see the difference in Lynch's offense from the offense Daz ran at BC. We have a ton of weapons and looking forward to see how it all comes together. I will be happy if/when we win football games, but I am excited with how things are looking so far. Long way to go still though.
