Keep in mind CSU fiscal year ends June 30, so Spring football would hit

before that and would be counted to this fiscal year. This is part of the reason why many schools and conferences are moving that direction because no attendance or 25% attendance now vs 50% or full attendance in March-June might be financially worth the wait if your fiscal year ends mid-year like CSU's. Conferences like SEC, ACC and Big12 though look at at and say "tv ratings will be higher with less competition

The thing is though, you have to be very certain that Spring football would happen because having FB and MBB at the same time will be tough to manage and get fans to be part of both. It also hurts university engagement with alumni in the Fall. As well as likely results in those players that expect to be drafted in the NFL, opting out of playing from fear of getting hurt and not having a chance to recover prior to an NFL season. Point is, I don't think cancelling football in 2020 hurts CSU financially as long it can be played in the Spring, but it makes other things more difficult. Personally, I think what might be better is just stretching out the CFB season to January. Add 8 weeks to the CFB season for instance. Conferences can coordinate their schedule to have Dec and Jan games in the more Southern states for better weather. But basically have 2 weeks between any game. A longer season creates more time to develop treatments, etc. Also provides more time between games for anyone that gets COVID to recover (including players who are unlikely to get it severely) and spreads out community transmission so any fan that may catch it at a game, there will be two to four weeks (if on the road) for symptoms to arise and pass before people might be back in the stadium. There is time to quarantine and contact trace effectively. And there is more time to practice between games to get a player more reps that might have to step in last minute if suddenly a star player goes out.

There is no good solution.
