Said from the parent of a 1st grader

Online kindergarten last semester was a complete joke. Kids couldn't even stay focused for a daily 30 minute zoom call, could hardly hear/see what was happening. No PE, no Art, no librarian, no innovation labs etc. Those teachers just went MIA, while my wife and I are left to pick up the carnage. Assignments were just handed out everyday with a "here you go!" kind of mentality with zero instruction. Never graded, received no testing results or report card. Now we're going to multiply that into full days with a teacher wearing a mask and a fixed camera in a room? The data shows the risk of kids getting/transmitting the disease at elementary age to be nearly zero. Want to be a little more cautionary with older kids, fine. Not with the young ones. It's too critical of an age.

Honestly, if they made online optional, you'd probably have enough parents opt out of in person that it would take care of the class size/distancing naturally.
