Verdugo was starter in 89 but got hurt in 1st or 2nd game


Opening the door for Gimenez. Mike was a “better” runner but far from a running QB. He was a gamer though, threw pretty well and was good at leading the team.

Mike was tried at RB for about a week (don’t recall if that was spring or fall 89) but his lack of speed was very noticeable playing RB and switched him back permanently to QB. We had Tony Alford, Brian Copeland and Tony Carr as our tailbacks so there wasn’t really a need for him at that RB anyway.

Good memories!!
