Given that he sided w/ Hamilton on most things - he would be a centrist


Federalist. Who, in general, supported an assertive federal government (National Bank, roads, supporting manufacturing, etc). What does that sound like? Democrat...or previously, Lincoln Republicans.

He didn't completely reject Jeffersonianism, but it's important to remember that Jefferson quit in a huff - as he regularly did.

I would imagine that by traditional standards, Washington would've looked a bit like Joe Biden, Richard Burr, Mark Warner, etc.
