Disagree. Precautions matter, and they help....

The densely populated northeast states got slammed early on, but that spread took root before anyone was taking serious precautions. Their deaths peaked in April, and there's a 6-8 week lag from initial infection to hospitalization, to death, to a death being reported. So most of those people caught it in late Feb and early March, before the lockdowns were in place. Then they locked down, and their numbers clearly dropped (again, with a lag), and they've remained relatively low since then. We saw in the summer that places that relaxed their precautions, like FL and TX, saw big spikes. Then they reinstituted precautions, and their numbers went back down. Its just common sense - interact with people less and it is less likely the virus spreads. Wear a mask when interacting and there's less chance it spreads.
