The last couple of press conferences, Addazio really gushed over Centeio...
....saying things like, "he's a special person", "he's an unbelievable leader", "he's tough", "he's got a great arm and throws a beautiful ball". Says he's very excited and confident with him as his QB next season.
I wasn't overly impressed with what I saw in the few games last season....he struggled with accuracy (wasn't helped by his receivers on several occasions, though) and seemed to take off and run too quickly rather than stand in the pocket and find an open man. I did like his running ability, but he will need to be much more consistent throwing the ball downfield if he's going to be our starter.
ALSO....it was revealed he was playing on a fractured ankle(?) during the season. So, that could have had an impact, and I think it reflects his toughness. While I don't have an overabundance of optimism with him being the starter, I'll trust Addazio's impressions of him from practice, games, film, etc. during spring, fall, etc. versus the very little I was able to glean from his play in three games.
But, the job should absolutely be opened up to all comers....and let the best man win.
