At this point it is entirely the conference

On a few levels. I don't think they can recruit at the highest level any more because the conference sucks and then on top of that because the conference sucks they don't get tested for a majority of the season. That also leads to worse seeds because of SOS and additionally means not hosting the first two rounds, which is so important in volleyball. CSU is pretty much a Sweet 16 lock if they get to host.

I truly believe CSU has had Final Four caliber teams, especially in the early 2000s. Those were some unfortunate missed opportunities. I think now CSU needs to strive to start getting back to Sweet 16s and then maybe catch a break or two, but having pure Final Four talent, the window maybe has passed.

That said, last year's team was so, so good and laid the egg in the tourney. It would have been interesting to see what they maybe could have done if they had held it together in the first match.
