Why shouldn't they be viewed that way at the moment though?

There's unprecedented turnover across the country right now. So many star players are transferring (more than ever)/going pro. I mean look at our conference: SDSU, Utah State, and Boise all losing their best players (I'm sure they'll all get good to great transfers, but the cohesion of a team takes a long time to come together, and it will be hard to ever "replace" the Mitchell, Schakel, Queta, Alston, Hamilton, Jenkins types regardless).

At the moment, we have our entire team returning (will it remain that way? who knows... but we'll surely add an impact transfer or two as well). It's a team that was firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble and deserving of selection into the tournament, despite not having a single senior. And again, probably with a transfer improving the current group (as long as Roddy and/or Stevens don't leave).

Development isn't linear etc etc etc. But with how things look right now on paper (which is how Borzello is evaluating that), this is a team fully returning and that *should* be getting better. CSU has a big advantage in this current situation while other teams learn how to play together and find out what they have- CSU already knows what they have, and that's a good, young, improving team with great coaching.

We went 20-8 without a single bad loss, despite plenty of areas for improvement. Turnovers are an area we should definitely get better, our bigs are extremely raw but with upside (particularly with Moors, who really made strides as the year went on), and Roddy had to go up against other teams' bigs at 6'5" without reliable help from somebody with length. Odds are we get him some help, to go with Moors/Thomas/Jennissen likely improving. The way this team has already played defense (consistently), shot free throws at an elite level, and played very well in close games is something that is particularly encouraging going forward.
