In regards to US businesses...


We can blame it on businesses, but until ALL states make the use of E-Verify mandatory, it's hard to hold individual businesses accountable. I used e-verify since it's inception as a pilot program in '97. Started as a cumbersome, slow process and evolved into the simple, fast, and ACCURATE process it is today. It also sends the administrator regular updates on those individuals that need to update their documentation for continued employment. Until each individual state makes E-Verify mandatory they are really not committed to holding employers accountable for employing those that do not have the "right to work" in the United States. You are right however, if employment I-9 requirements are enforced it should cut the flow of those wanting to enter illegally.
