Supression does not occur prior to an event.
Maybe both sides are using the wrong term? Was it suppression in 2016 when largely black communities had voting machines go out of service in black communities and told people to go home on the day of voting? And no such machines had glitches in other parts of the state?
Is it suppression to have people wait in line four hours to vote because the suddenly forgot to hire enough poll workers?
There is no way around it, Rs are pissed that they lost both Senate seats. Rather than courting new voters or winning back the never Trumpers, they are screwing with the rules. I agree the Democrats are playing politics with it - it is low hanging fruit - but their goal is to piss off people enough to find a way to vote Rs out in 2022 also. Seems like it is working.
