I'm not a renewable energy nut and understand the negatives of hybrid &


electric vehicles. That said, these are technological steps that have to be taken in order to - hopefully - one day get to automobiles that do a fraction of the environmental damage that current types do (all types - gas, hyb, EV). It is not likely that we'll suddenly just go from all fossil fuels to a truly 'green' solution in one square-wave leap. We have to go through technology advancements and learning cycles over long periods of time. Suppressing the current versions because they are not perfect won't help in the long run.

Side bar - i actually think the wind industry is probably more environmentally damaging than EV's. I've toured a blade mfg facility and they create an incredible amount of solid waste in the manufacturing process, plus once the blades' life cycle is done they just bury 'em in the ground. Just saw something that Vestas has now created a process to recycle them but who knows how many blades are already in the ground, and if this recycling process will be legit.
