Well, we don't play at Allegiant anymore. We lost the Vegas bowl...
...which certainly goes back to a valid criticism of CT. Our conference bowl arrangements stink. But to your point about playing the hoops tourney at T&M...here's what I understand...
We never played at the MGM Grand Arena because it was tied to a casino...and at one point that was a big no-no. The Orleans and any other arena there were too small for our event. T&M holds 18,000. Of course, T-Mobile Arena opened and has a similar capacity, but the Pac-12 jumped on that right away when it opened...can't have two tourneys at the facility the same week. Maybe we should have been pushing to have dibs on it in advance of it opening...hard to argue on that.
I'm sure playing at T&M saves the conference a lot of rental costs, which can go back to the schools. I don't have much of an issue with the event being there. Yes, T-Mobile would be more neutral and obviously much newer/nicer. But the MW does a decent job removing all UNLV logos/signage from the arena to make it feel less UNLV-ish. The Rebs haven't won a tournament there since 2008...and have only won 3 in 19 seasons there...so not a huge deal in my opinion...but certainly understand the argument.
