I've said it all along that the MWC needs to be active here - poach the AAC

The AAC is already hurting losing their top 3 teams. I have NO interest in being in a conference with Temple, ECU, USF, or Navy. But I see this as a great opportunity for the MWC to get into Texas and grab SMU. Doing that would require grabbing at least one other team, and Memphis seems like the most obvious choice. If we want to add 4 you go with Tulane and Tulsa, but that may not be necessary. I'd rather see us go after Gonzaga and Wichita St to add to our basketball prowess.

Doing this would decimate the AAC. They would in effect lose their top 5 teams (3 to the Big12 and 2 to the MWC), and then would lose Wichita St in basketball.

This would make the MWC the obvious #6 conference. It would also get us into Texas recruiting grounds and a massive market in Dallas. It would also give us a partnership with FedEx with Memphis. We would easily have that 6th spot in the expanded playoff every year, and in basketball we would be a 5-7 bid conference.

Why not try to make this happen?
