I think SMU, UTSA, Louisiana Lafayette & NIU would

bring a lot to this conference.

UTSA is like UCF. They are investing significantly in their coaches and facilities, and doing a great job using their recruiting hotbed location to be successful. And it is showing on the field. Plus it is a destination location for many fans.

SMU has a massive market, huge exposure, a Natty, and are very invested in athletics. Plus a ton of historic players went there. They are like a more prominent Fresno State with a much larger market. I think North Texas would not be very helpful on this, agree there for sure (maybe beggers can't be choosers though)

Louisiana Lafayette is also invested ($2MM/year for their HC) & are making investments in facilities, and they have very good football and MBB.

On top of this, the addition of those 3 boxes in Houston as it sits right in that triangle, so you are invading into a rising Houston market share without the need to add Rice, who had a tiny student body and lack of success (though great academics).

Then Northern Illinois who has had lot of football success, gets the MWC into the Midwest and Chicago market. Also a destination location.

Best of all, Texas and Illinois are two locations with some of the highest out-of-state enrollment to CSU. Those things would be great for our school.

Add Gonzaga and you have some additional California exposure.

I would love Memphis. I would love Memphis. I would like Tulsa. But now that they are going to be able to continue to get $7MM per year plus a $10MM exit fee, I don't think the MWC could get them and SMU. A good leader could get one, but not all, I think. And SMU would be my pick for us.
