Pac 12 vs MWC record
The Pac 12 is 114-58 overall vs the MWC, but that is over many years. I'm not sure what happened 20 years ago is relevant to today since so much has changed in college football.
If we look closer, the gap seems to be narrowing. For example, from 2008-2012, the Pac12 was 13-16 vs the MWC. Then from 2013-2015 the Pac12 dominated the MWC, going 35-6. But more recently, from 2016-2021 the Pac 12 is just 29-21 vs the MWC.
Other facts:
- The Pac12 has a losing record vs the MWC in bowl games all-time (12-13)
- Air Force is 5-3 all-time against Pac12 teams
- Boise St is 7-4 all-time against Pac12 teams
- SDSU is 7-2 against Pac12 teams since 2016
So this idea that the Pac12 is "so much better" and "it's not even close" isn't true. Especially when you consider how much more money flows through Pac12 athletic programs, the MWC competes extremely well. If you want to look at college football as a whole, the Pac12 is only a power conference because of history, money, and viewership. Their success on the field has been abysmal as of late.
