So it's held at the old race track(?), if I'm remembering correctly. I went

to the first one after Katrina, wow what a strange/eerie way to experience NO for a first time. Buildings boarded up, high rises condemned with windows blown out 8 stories up, a huge tent village under the viaduct/Hwy....anyways, they have 6(?) stages spread around the grounds and when I was there there was three stages with bands on them and groups of folks watching/dancing. Meanwhile on the 'main' stage Santana was about to start a show. So they rotate the stages through the day. Some of the stages have a theme, like gospel-as PSR mentioned. There's even the trolley/public transportation from Bourbon street/downtown, out to the fairgrounds, or whatever they are.
While I was there, as I said before. It was two weekends. My friend and I went to the first(?) weekend. We missed Widespread panic by a few hours driving in. In between the weekends a lot of the bands either stuck around, or showed up early and played various bars/clubs around NO.
Now that poster makes it look like it's a week long festival now. Another cool, side thing to do was take the free ferry across the Mississippi to the small town on the opposite bank. It has it's own roots in the music history. I know this doesn't answer your question about tickets, but thought I'd share.
