We needed to hang on to competent coaches. Two bowl games and 6-2, didn't look great but we couldn't afford to fire a guy with a winning record. Who then could we hire. And if you don't extend you handcuff a coach.

I'm not saying it was a great move or very good provisions in the contract, but I get the gamble and unfortunately it didn't payoff. He would have been fired after year 4 if not for the neuropathy, again I forgive this one just due to ethics, ie.. don't kick a man when he's down.

The wins stat (who we beat) is just not very relevant, pretty much every 7-6 team beats the bad teams and loses to the good ones, it's why they're the good ones.

The Daz hire, ya, I don't get that one other than to say Urban must have put on one hell of a sales pitch that JP and/or Joyce must have bought. In hindsight, a mistake, but I give them credit for dumping him after just a year and a half.
