Haven't had much heart to talk about the game since Saturday night...but...
...we recorded a podcast tonight where Mike and I shared some thoughts. Won't rehash those thoughts here...but I just gotta say, I could not have been more impressed with Brayden Fowler-Nicolosi, who we had on as our guest tonight. I think you will absolutely love this kid. It's the first time I've talked to him or heard him talk in depth...and he's fantastic. Give it a listen on your favorite podcast platform or on Spreaker (linked below). First 45 minutes was his interview. Next 40 minutes was Mike and I discussing the game and more.
A few tidbits from BFN's comments:
1) Said he was not told he'd be the starting QB vs. CU...but the first practice after the Wazzu game, he started receiving all of the first-string reps, so it was understood.
2) He begged Jay Norvell to go for two in the first OT and basically told Jay if he gives BFN the chance, he will score and win the game. Said he had no doubt in his mind they were going to score. He said he was locked in.
3) Said his biggest individual goal for the season is to become an incredible leader that people will rally around. Of the team goal he said: “We’re going to win the Mountain West and go to a bowl gamee, a good bowl game, and we’re going to win it.”
4) Said he heard some pretty awful things after the game from people on the field...wrote them down in his notebook and will use them for motivation when CU visits Canvas next year.
5) Said the OL is so vastly improved this year, and not just on the field. Said they all hang out together off the field, enjoy each other etc.
6) Wished Travis Hunter well. Said the team is supporting Henry Blackburn in the wake of the death threats from CU fans...and said the Rams "all have each others' back".
7) Said the Middle Tennessee defense likes to blitz and get pressure on QBs quick, and that it will present opportunities for a lot of explosive plays. Said the team will generate its own energy Saturday no matter the atmosphere and will be ready to go in and win.
