Special teams impressing

Thinking back just 3 years ago when we lost games because of special teams alone, Boise game, it certainly is refreshing that we are able to just do the basics. But we are much better than that.

Kickoff coverage - unknown, Noyes kicks it too far

Kick return - above average - td on game 1

Field goal kicking - above average. Yea we got a kick blocked against cu, but noyes has a leg and is accurate so far. Fake field goal too, I think that falls in this category.

Field goal D (what ever that is called) above average. Blocked a field goal and an extra point.

Punt returns - average so far. We have seen sparks in this area last year, but yet to come this year.

Punting -/ punt coverage - this is contentious here on ramnation. We have had great punters in the past. One in the nfl. They looked great, flipped the field regularly. You know what else happened, they often out kicked their coverage. Turner does not pass the eye test with his style, but it works. No, he does not flip the field, unless her gets a good bounce and roll. His punts dont often get returned and his average is longer than one would expect. He is also adept at dropping punts inside the 20. Who really cares if his style is different, it works. - average to above average.

Nice to have a special teams coach.

We are not the special teams of lubick 90s, but we are better than most.
