had a lot of truth to it. A coach himself, he was asked how many traveling teams his son was on growing up. He said one. And that practice should only be two times a week and games on Saturdays. Otherwise kids get burned out.
Having youth coaching experience, I can't agree more. We tend to overkill with sports. Plus coaching to win the game, as mentioned before, does not develop individual skills as well. The "organization" of sports hurts enthusiasm for the kids. When was the last time you saw a "pick up" game of any sport in your neighborhood? Those are the most fun for all kids.
