Mr. Peabody and Sherman Talk Rams Hoops

Many of you might be old enough to remember the escapades of Mr. Peabody and his pet boy Sherman, who first appeared on The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show in the 1960’s and later in a Dreamworks movie.

It just so happens that I wandered upon them the other day and, believe it or not, they were talking CSU Men’s Basketball. Here’s how that conversation went.

Sherman – “Gee, Mr. Peabody, I watched the Rams play Utah State last night on TV and they had no chance. They’re too small.”

Mr. Peabody – “Sherman, do you remember the last time the Rams played in the NCAA tournament?”

Sherman – “I sure do Mr Peabody. They beat Missouri in the first game before losing to the Louisville Cardinals, the eventual National Champions*”

Mr Peabody – “Do you remember how big the Missouri starters were?”

Sherman – “Of course not Mr. Peabody. I have a hard enough time remembering my phone number.”

Mr Peabody – “Well, their starters were 5’11”, 6’4”, 6’5”, 6’8”, and 6’9”. About the same size as the Rams who won by 12 points.

Sherman – ”Yeah, but then they got blown out by Louisville. What a great team! Gorgui Diong – 6’11” 245, Chane Behanan, 6’6”, 250, Luke Hancock – 6’6”, 200, Peyton Siva – 6’0”, 185, Russ Mitch – 6’0, 165.

Mr. Peabody – “Now Sherman, can you tell me how big the Rams are who took the floor against Utah State last night.”

Sherman – “James Moors – 6’10”, 240, David Roddy, 6’5”, 250, Adam Thistlewood, 6’6”, 210, Isaiah Stevens, 6’0, 180, and Kendle Moore, 5’10”, 150.”

Mr. Peabody – “Do you notice much different in terms of size or weight between that 2013 Louisville team and the 2021 Rams?”

Sherman – “Not really Mr Peabody. An inch here and an inch there, a few pounds too. But almost identical.”

Mr. Peabody – “So maybe its not just height and weight that comes into play in the game of basketball. Maybe its about toughness, movement, speed of play, and a lot of other factors.”

Sherman – “Gee Mr. Peabody, you sure are smart.”

Mr. Peabody – Rolls Eyes
