gRAMS10 holds on to win the championship! Ramalackin and Andrew Cuomo tie for second

Contest Home Page

4/4/22–The Kansas Jayhawks made a stunning second-half comeback Monday night and ultimately edged North Carolina 72-69 in a see-saw battle to win the National Championship game. The win capped the 2021-22 college basketball season and wrapped up this year’s RamNation Bracket Contest, presented by SCHEELS.

gRAMS10 went into the Final Four weekend with a one-game lead over the next-closest competitors — Ramalackin and AndrewCuomo — with just one team remaining on his bracket that made it to the Final Four. That team was Kansas, and while gRAMS10 picked Duke to win it all, the Kansas win over Villanova in the semifinal game gave gRAMS10 one more point to his win total and a little bit of a cushion heading into the championship game. Turns out he didn’t even need the cushion, as neither of Ramalackin or AndrewCuomo’s remaining teams notched a win in the Final Four, and gRAMS10 pulled away to win the RamNation Bracket Contest. He finished with 41 points, while Ramalackin and AndrewCuomo tied for second place at 39 points.

Thus, gRAMS10, a long-time RamNationer and contest participant, earns the $200 gift card to SCHEELS, along with a filled growler with the beer of his choice from Mighty River Brewing Company. Ramalackin and Andrew Cuomo each earned their own filled growlers from Mighty River. Congratulations to all three of you! (We’ll be in touch with each of you in the next few days to let you know how to collect your winnings!)

It was an exciting race at the top of the standings. Ramalambadingdong has to be disappointed, though, as he went into the weekend just one point out of second place, with two participants remaining in his Final Four, but failed to notch a win and garner any more points. He finished in a tie for fourth place with RAM Texas and AshlynPRam, the latter of which had THREE teams remaining in her Final Four. She managed to earn only one more point in the final three games of the tournament. RAM Texas’ fourth-place finish was made possible by a late surge thanks to being just one of 13 contestants to have Kansas winning it all.

Those contestants who finished just outside the top three, along with the rest of the top 10, won’t go away empty handed. They all have earned a free beer taster flight from Mighty River Brewing Company. (We’ll be in touch in the next few days with your certificate.) The top 10 finished like this (using the National Championship game total points tiebreaker to break a five-way tie of contestants who had 37 points):

1)  gRAMS10 (41 points)
2) Andrew Cuomo (39)
3) Ramalackin (39)
4) RAM Texas (38)
5) Ramalambadingdong (38)
6) AshlynPRam (38)
7) jeppsonr (37)
8) durwardram (37)
9) GibbonJockey (37)
10) montanaram

Condolences go out to AggieRamTx who took dead last, with just 22 correct picks in 67 games. But, you can always come back strong next year! We thank you all for playing and spending your days on RamNation.
